The HyperDrive Next Thunderbolt 5 Dock is back down to $319.99, saving $80 off its $399.99 list price. The 20% discount brings the premium docking station to a price that has previously matched its lowest tracked level, making it worth considering for users building a high-performance desktop setup.

The dock combines Thunderbolt 5 connectivity, laptop charging, multi-display support, and an integrated M.2 SSD slot in one device. It is designed for people who want to expand their laptop’s connectivity while adding fast internal storage without purchasing a separate external SSD enclosure.

What the HyperDrive Next Thunderbolt 5 Dock offers

Thunderbolt 5 is the main attraction, with up to 80Gbps of data bandwidth and a bandwidth boost to 120Gbps for compatible display-intensive workloads. The dock supports up to three 4K displays at 60Hz or a single 8K display at 144Hz, although the number of supported external displays depends on the connected computer and operating system.

It also includes three downstream Thunderbolt 5 ports, four USB-A ports, a 2.5Gbps Ethernet connection, and a 3.5mm audio jack. An upstream Thunderbolt connection links the dock to the host computer, reducing the need to connect every peripheral individually.

Power delivery is another highlight. The dock can provide up to 140W of charging power to compatible laptops, making it suitable for demanding workstations that need power alongside high-speed data connections. The included 180W power adapter supplies the dock.

Built-in SSD expansion adds extra value

Unlike a conventional docking station, the HyperDrive Next includes a full-size M.2 slot for NVMe SSDs. It supports PCIe Gen 4 x4 and Gen 3 x4 drives, with capacities of up to 16TB and M.2 sizes ranging from 2230 to 2280.

That means users can add substantial storage directly to the dock rather than buying a separate SSD enclosure. The slot also supports compatible PCIe-based modules, including certain AI accelerators, for specialized workflows.

Thunderbolt Share is another useful feature for people who work across two computers. With compatible systems and the required connections, it allows users to share files, peripherals, and control between PCs without relying on a network.

Is the $80 discount worth it?

At $319.99, the HyperDrive Next Thunderbolt 5 Dock costs 20% less than its $399.99 list price. The current offer is particularly attractive for users who can take advantage of its integrated SSD slot, high-wattage laptop charging, fast wired networking, and multiple Thunderbolt connections.

However, it is still a premium accessory. The dock does not include native HDMI or DisplayPort outputs, so connecting monitors with those interfaces requires compatible USB-C video adapters. Display support also varies by computer, meaning buyers should check their laptop’s capabilities before expecting to run three external monitors.

The integrated storage bay is useful, but it adds less value for people who already have sufficient storage or do not need fast NVMe expansion. Those users may find a less expensive dock with more conventional display connections a better fit.

The HyperDrive Next Thunderbolt 5 Dock is currently listed at $319.99, down from $399.99. The $269.99 price shown alongside the offer requires approval for an eligible credit card and should not be confused with the standard deal price.

For users who need Thunderbolt 5 speeds, powerful laptop charging, and built-in SSD expansion in one workstation accessory, the $80 saving makes this dock a compelling option. Buyers who only need additional USB ports and a monitor connection, however, can likely spend considerably less.
