Where did my photos go?
We’ve all been there. You take a bunch of photos, but then some of them just…disappear. This can happen for a few reasons. Maybe your phone ran out of space, the internet crapped out while saving the pic, or a software gremlin decided to be mischievous. Until now, those photos were gone for good. But fear not, photo-taking friends!
Here’s how to recover lost photos on iPhone with iOS 18
With iOS 18, you can be a photo recovery hero! Here’s how to get your lost photos and videos back:
- Open the Photos app (the one with the little flower icon).
- Tap “Albums” at the bottom (it looks like squares stacked on top of each other).
- Scroll down ’til you see “Utilities” (think toolbox for your photos).
- Tap “Recovered” (you might need to use Face ID or Touch ID to unlock it).
Boom! This is where your lost photo squad is hanging out. You can tap on individual photos or videos, or hold down to grab a bunch at once. Then, decide their destiny:
- Restore to library: This sends your chosen photos back to where they belong in the Photos app.
- Permanently delete: If a photo makes you cringe, you can delete it for good here.
