Halide, the beloved app that’s been a go-to for serious photographers on iOS, has just dropped a new update that’s sure to excite iPhone 16 owners. With Halide 2.17, you can now take full advantage of the iPhone 16’s Camera Control button by adjusting focus and exposure directly from it.
The new update introduces a “Locked” mode, which is a lifesaver for those who’ve accidentally ruined a shot by accidentally swiping the wrong way. With Locked mode, you can lock down certain manual settings, ensuring that your desired settings stay put.
Halide’s founder, Sebastiaan De With, has been raving about the new exposure adjustment, claiming it’s three times more powerful than what Apple offers. This means you can fine-tune your shots with even greater precision. Additionally, the manual focus on Camera Control is said to be a smooth and enjoyable experience.
If you’ve been using the Camera Control button to launch Halide, you’re already ahead of the game. But Halide 2.17 takes it a step further by allowing you to snap a photo immediately when you press the button, rather than waiting for the release. This means you can capture those fleeting moments even faster.
And the good news doesn’t stop there. Halide’s Quick Snap feature even works with the iPhone 16 Pro‘s 48-megapixel ProRAW setting. Coupled with Halide’s recently introduced “Process Zero” feature, you can take stunning photos with minimal processing.
