Google has long tried to develop a stellar set of wireless earbuds without success. But with the new Pixel Buds Pro, the tech giant seems to have finally gotten it right on the fourth attempt. Reviewers praise the Pixel Buds Pro for ticking all the right boxes – great sound quality, effective noise cancellation, long battery life of up to 11 hours, and convenient features like fast pairing and Bluetooth multipoint connectivity.

With such strong credentials, it’s reasonable to expect that the Pixel Buds Pro will get heavy use between charges. Fortunately, the earbuds support wireless charging for on-the-go power-ups.

The Pixel Buds Pro are compatible with any Qi-certified wireless chargers, including Google’s own Pixel Stand (2nd Gen). The wireless charging speed clocks in at a decent 2.5W.

Recharging the earbuds is straightforward – just place them in their case. This automatically initiates charging. Google rates battery life at 7 hours with active noise cancellation (ANC) on and 11 hours with ANC off.

Superb sound and ANC

With excellent audio quality, the Pixel Buds Pro stand toe-to-toe with the best true wireless earbuds available. Their well-balanced sound has been described as natural and open. Out of the box, treble and mids come through clearly without harshness. Bass is bouncy but not overbearing. A built-in 5-band equalizer in the app lets you customize the frequency response to taste.

For audio codecs, the Pixel Buds Pro relies on SBC and AAC. They don’t support top-end codecs like LDAC or AptX. However, this shouldn’t greatly impact real-world listening for most people.

The Pixel Buds Pro also deliver effective active noise cancellation to mute external sounds. They routinely block lower rumbles like engines, while still allowing some higher pitches like voices to come through. Call quality is middle of the road – good but not amazing.

By supporting wireless charging in a compact case, the Pixel Buds Pro make it simple to top up when the battery runs low. Combined with lush sound, sophisticated noise cancelling, and smart features, the Pixel Buds Pro give users an outstanding wireless listening experience.
