Google has unveiled its latest flagship smartphone, the Pixel 9. The successor to the Pixel 8, the new device boasts a refined design, improved camera capabilities, and a more powerful processor. However, it also comes with a steeper price tag.

The Pixel 9 sports a larger 6.3-inch OLED display that’s noticeably brighter than its predecessor. Under the hood, Google’s custom Tensor G4 chip takes the reins, promising enhanced AI performance and overall speed. While the dual-camera setup remains, the ultrawide lens has been upgraded to a 48MP sensor for sharper images.

Design-wise, the Pixel 9 adopts a familiar look with flat edges and a pill-shaped camera module. It’s slightly heavier and taller than the Pixel 8, but also thinner. Google claims to have improved durability without specifying details.

Battery life is said to be on par with the Pixel 8, which was already decent. However, wired charging is still capped at 27W, and there’s no word on Qi2 wireless charging support, a feature found in competing devices.

Here’s where you can preorder the Google Pixel 9

The Pixel 9 comes in four colors: Obsidian, Porcelain, Wintergreen, and Peony. It’s available for preorder from Google Store, Amazon, Best Buy, and Target, starting at $799 for the 128GB model and $899 for the 256GB version. That’s a $100 price hike compared to the Pixel 8.

While the Pixel 9 offers several improvements over its predecessor, the question remains: Is the extra cost justified? Consumers will have to weigh the benefits of a brighter screen, better camera, and faster processor against the increased price tag.

Key features of the Google Pixel 9:

  • Larger, brighter 6.3-inch OLED display
  • Tensor G4 chip for improved performance
  • Upgraded 48MP ultrawide camera
  • Familiar design with flat edges
  • No major battery life improvements
  • Starts at $799

With the Pixel 9 now available for preorder, potential buyers can start considering if this latest flagship is the right fit for their needs and budget.
