The Google Pixel 8a, the upcoming mid-range offering from the tech giant, has been the subject of two recent leaks, providing enthusiasts with a glimpse of its potential design and color options. While nothing has been officially confirmed by Google, these leaks have fueled speculation and anticipation among Pixel fans eager for the next iteration of the company’s affordable smartphone lineup.
The first leak comes from Android Headlines, which has shared rendered images purporting to showcase the Pixel 8a in four distinct colorways: Mint, Porcelain, Obsidian, and Bay. These hues are reminiscent of the color palette offered with the Pixel 7a, with the exception of Mint, which appears to have replaced the Coral (orange) option from the previous generation.

According to the leaked renders, the Pixel 8a’s design seems to be in line with the aesthetics of the Pixel 8 and the Pixel 7a, featuring a familiar form factor with potentially slightly more curved corners. This continuity in design language is a hallmark of Google’s Pixel lineup, ensuring a cohesive visual identity across the range.
The rendered images have sparked a discussion around the vividness of the Mint colorway, with some observers expressing concerns that the shade appears overly garish in the leaks. However, it is important to note that the final product’s color rendition may differ from these early renderings, as imaging adjustments and editing can often distort hues.
Interestingly, Google may have inadvertently revealed the Pixel 8a’s design in an advertisement for Google Fi Wireless, with the image in the ad closely resembling the leaked renders from Android Headlines. This potential slip-up lends further credence to the leaked design and color options.
In a separate development, renowned tipster Evan Blass has spotted Pixel 8a tutorials that have gone live on the website of a US carrier, a move that could be seen as a premature reveal from Google’s perspective. It remains to be seen how long these tutorials will remain accessible before Google takes action to contain the leak.
Rumors surrounding the Pixel 8a’s specifications have also been circulating, with whispers of a potential upgrade to a 120Hz display and the inclusion of the Tensor G3 chip, though the latter may be underclocked to position the device below the Pixel 8 in terms of performance.
