The fourth-generation Nest Learning Thermostat marks a substantial redesign, featuring a larger, bezel-less display and customizable interface. The device leverages advanced AI to optimize temperature settings, providing energy savings and enhanced user comfort. Key features include a Smart Schedule for personalized recommendations and Smart Ventilation for improved indoor air quality. The thermostat will be available for preorder for $279.99 in the US and $379.99 in Canada starting today, with a release date of August 20.
Google is also poised to revolutionize its smart home offerings by integrating Gemini AI. This powerful technology will enable Nest and Home devices to move beyond basic functionalities and perform more complex tasks. For instance, Nest cameras could transition from simple motion detection to identifying specific objects or actions. Additionally, the Google Home app will benefit from Gemini’s capabilities, allowing users to engage in more natural and informative conversations with their devices.
To initially explore the potential of Gemini, Google will conduct a Public Preview later this year, granting select Nest Aware subscribers access to these new features. A broader rollout is planned for the future.
