Following reports that the Google Maps service could be used to track the movements of people and troops, Google has temporarily suspended Google Maps live traffic data in Ukraine as Russia’s attack on Ukraine continues.
In response to rising pressure on digital companies to “take a tougher line against Russia,” Google has demonetized ads from Russian state media sites. Last week, Google’s YouTube subsidiary said that ads would be limited, video suggestions would be restricted, and access to select Russian channels in Ukraine would be suspended.
