Google just rolled out a fresh batch of AI updates for its marketing tools, and honestly, this one feels less like an incremental feature drop and more like Google finally stitching its ad and analytics products together into something that actually talks to each other. The announcement, published on the Google Ads and Commerce blog, centers on new agentic capabilities inside Google Ads and Google Analytics, all built on top of Ask Advisor, the AI agent Google introduced back in May 2026 to unify its marketing platforms.

If you’ve used Google Ads or Analytics anytime in the last decade, you know the drill: you log in, stare at a dashboard full of numbers, and spend the first ten minutes just trying to figure out what actually changed since you last checked. That’s the exact friction Google is trying to kill here. Google Analytics now shows AI Overviews right at the top of the homepage, giving you an instant, plain-English summary of what’s shifted since your last login, whether that’s a seasonal sales spike or a sudden dip in traffic. Click on a data card that catches your eye, and it drops that context straight into Ask Advisor so you can dig deeper without starting from scratch. Google’s also added opt-in notifications via phone or email, so you can get these smart summaries on your own schedule instead of hunting for them.

Google Ads got a parallel glow-up. The homepage now surfaces personalized, AI-powered insight cards, and there’s a prompt box sitting right above them where you can type out whatever’s on your mind, like how competitors might be eating into your impression share or what trends could actually move your campaign forward. It’s a small UX change, but it reflects a bigger shift: Google wants you asking questions in natural language instead of digging through filters and reports.

The other big piece here is reporting, and this is where things get genuinely useful for anyone who’s ever had to explain a messy spreadsheet to a boss who just wants the “so what.” Google Ads is rolling out new Dashboards that turn raw data into visualizations using simple text prompts, with Analytics getting the same treatment soon. Every report also auto-generates a real-time summary explaining the “why” behind the numbers, which should save a lot of back-and-forth when you’re trying to justify a campaign pivot to a client or a manager.

There’s also a new benchmarking feature inside Analytics through Ask Advisor, letting you compare your campaign performance against anonymized data from similar businesses. That’s a meaningful addition because most marketers have historically had to guess whether their numbers were good or just “fine” relative to their industry. Kevin Marshall, Paid Media Director at Gardyn, gave Google a quote for the blog post saying Ask Advisor has become his “go-to for a directional check on paid media performance,” which frees up time to dig deeper into shifts that actually move the needle.

None of this exists in a vacuum. Google first teased Ask Advisor at Google Marketing Live 2026 back in May, pitching it as a Gemini-powered collaborator that spans Ads, Analytics, Merchant Center, and the Google Marketing Platform, so marketers stop bouncing between five different tabs just to understand one campaign. Before that, Google had already globally launched Ads Advisor and Analytics Advisor in December 2025, which handled recommendations and conversational queries separately before Ask Advisor merged them into one continuous thread. This new update basically pushes that unification further into the actual homepage experience rather than keeping it tucked away in a side panel.

It’s also part of a much broader industry trend toward agentic marketing, where AI doesn’t just report data but starts acting on it, adjusting bids, flagging opportunities, even drafting ad copy based on performance signals. Third-party platforms like Optmyzr and Albert.ai have been chasing this same idea for a while, but Google has the built-in advantage of owning the data pipes for both the ad platform and the analytics layer, which is exactly why tying Ads and Analytics together through one AI agent makes so much sense strategically.

For now, Ask Advisor and these homepage features are available in beta for English-language accounts, with more capabilities expected to roll out over the coming months. If you’re managing campaigns and want to try it, you can jump in directly through Google Ads or Google Analytics using the links Google shared in its announcement.
