Legendary’s Monsterverse franchise has received a series order from Apple TV+ for a new untitled original live-action series.

The series is based on the epic fight between Godzilla and the Titans that destroyed San Francisco, as well as the startling new fact that monsters exist, and follows one family’s quest to discover its hidden secrets and a legacy that connects them to the secret group known as Monarch.

Legendary Television will produce the series, which will be executive produced by co-creators Chris Black and Matt Fraction, as well as Safehouse Pictures’ Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell and Toho Co. Ltd.

Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita will executive produce for Toho. Toho owns the Godzilla character and has licensed the rights to Legendary for this series as a natural result of their long-standing collaboration on the film franchise.

After 2021’s Godzilla vs. Kong became one of the first great box-office hits in the epidemic era in 2021, there was talk about expanding the franchise through a series. Legendary is currently working on the next untitled Monsterverse feature, but they spotted the potential for a series and began talking to interested investors.

Apple expressed early interest in the series as it seeks to add more branded Content to its growing slate of original TV series, and a deal was quickly reached to begin development.

The untitled Monsterverse series will premiere globally on Apple TV. Apple hasn’t yet revealed when the series will premiere, and they haven’t revealed when production for the series will begin.
