DJI has introduced the “DJI Mini 3 Pro,” a new compact drone that serves as a lightweight and portable camera drone, tipping the scales at a mere 249g. The price range in the US varies from $669 to 1,558, depending on the chosen bundle.

The DJI Mini 3 Pro boasts impressive features, including the ability to capture 4K videos at 60fps. It incorporates advanced functionalities like ActiveTrack, tri-directional obstacle sensing, and a 90° gimbal rotation, facilitating high-quality vertical imaging suitable for social media. All the while, its flight time has been extended well beyond 30 minutes.

Its adherence to a weight below 250g places the DJI Mini 3 Pro in the safe category of drones according to regulations in different countries and regions.

Incorporating more built-in features than any other drone in DJI’s lineup, the Mini 3 Pro benefits from improved flight performance, camera capabilities, battery life, and intelligent functionalities previously exclusive to the Air and Mavic series.

The Mini 3 Pro showcases a completely revamped structural design, boosting performance. The propellers and arms have been redesigned to enhance aerodynamics, thus extending flight duration. The novel design positions the forward and backward dual-vision sensors at the drone’s front, broadening the sensing range and ensuring a safer flight experience. An overhauled gimbal enables unprecedented camera angles, including tilt-up and vertical shots.

The DJI Mini 3 Pro is equipped with Tri-Directional Obstacle Sensing, featuring forward, backward, and downward visual sensors. The forward and downward sensors provide a wider field of view, facilitating seamless route planning and heightened environmental awareness. The sensors also enable Advanced Pilot Assistance Systems (APAS) 4.0, which detects obstacles and navigates around them for safer flying.

Moreover, these sensors enable the comprehensive FocusTrack suite, allowing users to select a subject for the drone to automatically track while ensuring a secure flight path. With its advanced sensing technology, the DJI Mini 3 Pro becomes the first in the Mini family to integrate both APAS and FocusTrack.

The DJI Mini 3 Pro also showcases significantly enhanced image technology. Dual native ISO on a 1/1.3-inch CMOS camera sensor, previously accessible only in cinema and select micro single cameras, now takes center stage. It sports an f/1.7 aperture and captures photos up to 48MP and 4K/60fps video. The camera’s 90-degree rotation enables True Vertical Shooting, simplifying the capture of high-quality, easily shareable content in portrait mode, all without compromising image quality through zooming and cropping.

For rich detail, HDR video recording is attainable at frame rates up to 30fps. The Normal color profile streamlines in-app editing, while D-Cinelike broadens post-editing options. The camera supports digital video zoom at up to 2x in 4K, 3x in 2.7K, and 4x in Full HD. Responding to user feedback, the DJI Mini 3 Pro improves image performance with 2.4μm pixels, capturing more detail, particularly in low-light and nighttime conditions.

Although weighing a mere 249 grams, the DJI Mini 3 Pro delivers an extended flight duration. It boasts an impressive flight time of up to 34 minutes, enabling the capture of extensive landscapes and destinations on a single battery charge. The Mini 3 Pro presents an unprecedented option for DJI drones by offering an extended flight battery.

The Intelligent Flying Battery Plus provides an extraordinary maximum flight time of 47 minutes, a remarkable feat for a drone of this size. This extended flight time complements the O3 transmission system, which delivers a sharp 1080p live feed from distances of up to 12 kilometers.

DJI Mini 3 Pro price and availability

The DJI Mini 3 Pro is currently available for pre-order on the official website and select retailer platforms, priced at $669 (no remote controller).
