For those who fondly remember the days of tactile smartphone keyboards — with their satisfying clicks and precision keystrokes — a new iPhone case aims to bring that experience back. Called simply “Clicks”, the case features a built-in QWERTY keyboard reminiscent of BlackBerry devices of yore.
The Bluetooth-free case connects directly to iPhones via a Lightning or USB-C pass-through connector, allowing it to draw power directly from the phone while still supporting fast charging. A companion app promises to unlock additional keyboard functionality over time.
Clicks are the brainchild of longtime mobile tech reviewers Michael Fisher (MrMobile) and Kevin Michaluk (CrackBerry Kevin), along with a team including former employees from Apple, BlackBerry and Google. It was designed specifically with creators in mind — those who are used to the productivity of physical keyboards on their laptops and are frustrated by touchscreen typing.
Available for pre-order now starting at $139, Clicks aims to bring back the tactile satisfaction of real buttons without sacrificing screen space — allowing users to immerse themselves in apps while typing. The integrated keyboard also features familiar computer keys like CMD and a keyboard backlight.
While the case adds considerable bulk, early reviews seem enthusiastic — especially from BlackBerry loyalists pining for their old devices. Clicks may not appeal to the average iPhone user, but for those frustrated by touchscreen typing, it could be a creative solution.
It’s a niche product to be sure, but one that targets that niche with thoughtfulness and understanding. For creators missing their old keyboard muscle memory, Clicks just might give their productivity the boost their workflows have been missing in an otherwise all-screen mobile world.
