ChatGPT has become one of the most popular AI chatbots on the market, thanks to its advanced capabilities. However, up until now, ChatGPT has been limited to text-based output. That is all about to change with the launch of GPT-4.

GPT-4, which is set to launch next week, will be a multimodal AI that can generate more than just text. According to Andreas Braun, CTO of Microsoft Germany, GPT-4 will allow for text-to-video generation, which is an exciting development for the AI industry.

“We will introduce GPT-4 next week; there we will have multimodal models that will offer completely different possibilities — for example, videos,” said Braun at the AI in Focus — Digital Kickoff.

With GPT-4, ChatGPT’s abilities will extend beyond just text output. As a language model architecture created by OpenAI, the Generative Pre-trained Transformer (GPT) has been limited to text output, specifically GPT-3 or GPT-3.5. However, with GPT-4, the possibilities for ChatGPT will expand significantly.

According to Holger Kenn, Director of Business Strategy at Microsoft Germany, GPT-4 will allow the AI to translate text into video, music, and images, making it a true multimodal AI. While text-to-video generation is not a new concept, with tech giants such as Meta and Google already having models, both of these technologies remain in the research stage and unavailable to the public.

As a result, OpenAI is perfectly positioned to stay ahead in the generative AI space with the launch of GPT-4. With its advanced abilities and new capabilities for generating video from text, ChatGPT is sure to attract even more attention in the AI industry. Whether you are looking for help with coding or need assistance with writing essays, ChatGPT will soon be able to do it all, including creating videos.
