Apple announced today that iPadOS 16 will be available on October 24 for all compatible iPad models (see all models below), bringing the Weather app, Stage Manager, and other new features to iPad users.

Apart from previous years, this year’s iPadOS and iOS updates were not released simultaneously. Instead, Apple decided to postpone iPadOS 16 until later in the fall to give it more time to fine-tune the update, which includes Stage Manager. The most significant new addition to iPadOS 16 is Stage Manager, which provides users of select iPad models with a new app windowing system.

iPadOS 16 also includes the Weather app and the ability to edit and unsend Messages, both of which are also available on iOS 16 and macOS Ventura.

Compatible iPads

  • iPad (5th generation and later)
  • iPad mini (5th generation and later)
  • iPad Air (3rd generation and later)
  • iPad Pro (all models)
