The hit AFI Award-winning musical comedy series “Schmigadoon!” has been renewed for a second season on Apple TV+, and will feature new original musical numbers from creator and executive producer Cinco Paul. Cecily Strong, Keegan-Michael Key, Academy Award winner Ariana DeBose, Dove Cameron, Jaime Camil, Kristin Chenoweth, Alan Cumming, Ann Harada, Jane Krakowski, Martin Short, and Aaron Tveit will all return for season two, with Tituss Burgess and Patrick Page joining the group.
Season two of “Schmigadoon!” will find Josh (played by Keegan-Michael Key) and Melissa (played by Cecily Strong) in Schmicago, the world of ’60s and ’70s musicals, after finding true love in Schmigadoon.
“Schmigadoon!” was honored with an AFI Award after its global premiere on Apple TV+ last year, and has gained worldwide recognition and awards, including a Critics Choice Award nomination for star Kristin Chenoweth for Best Supporting Actress.
Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio co-created “Schmigadoon!” which is produced by Broadway Video and Universal Television, a branch of Universal Studio Group. Paul is the showrunner and wrote all of the series’ original music. Robert Luketic is the director and co-executive producer of the film. Executive producers are Lorne Michaels and Andrew Singer, co-executive producer Micah Frank, and producers are Cecily Strong and Caroline Maroney.
