‘The Afterparty,’ a hit murder-mystery comedy series from Academy Award, BAFTA, and Golden Globe Award winners Chris Miller and Phil Lord, as well as TriStar TV and Sony Pictures Television, has been renewed for a second season for Apple TV+.
The announcement comes ahead of the highly anticipated season one finale, which will air globally on Apple TV+ on Friday, March 4th.
“The Afterparty,” created and directed by Miller, is a genre-defying series about a murder mystery at a high school reunion. Each episode delves into the story of a new character’s recollection of the tragic event in question, all while using prominent film genres and unique imagery to complement the storyteller’s point of view.
Haddish, Sam Richardson, Zoë Chao, Ben Schwartz, Ike Barinholtz, Ilana Glazer, Jamie Demetriou, and Dave Franco feature in the first season.
Maggie, an unexpected witness, will appear in Friday’s season finale episode to assist Detective Danner in piecing together the true tale surrounding Xavier’s death.
Miller acts as showrunner and executive producer alongside Lord through their production company, Lord Miller, in addition to directing. Anthony King (“Search Party,” “Dead to Me”), a Tony and Emmy-nominated writer, producer, and performer, also executive produces the series.
SVP of Television for Lord Miller The series is produced for Apple by TriStar TV and Sony Pictures Television as part of Lord and Miller’s five-year overall television partnership. Aubrey Lee is a producer on the show.
