“Sunny,” a new 10-episode darkly funny half-hour drama from A24 written by Katie Robbins and starring Emmy Award nominee, multi-hyphenate Rashida Jones, who also acts as executive producer, has received a series order for Apple TV+.

The series is produced by A24, written and executive produced by Robbins, Ravi Nandan and Lucy Tcherniak directing and executive producing. The series is based on the award-winning Irish writer Colin O’Sullivan’s book “Dark Manual,” which is set in Japan.

The “Sunny” series is Apple, A24, and Jones’ second collaboration, following the global premiere of Sofia Coppola’s critically acclaimed film “On The Rocks.” Jones will next be seen in Apple’s new drama series “Wool,” which is based on Hugh Howey’s New York Times best-selling dystopian trilogy.
