Apple is stirring the pot once again with a fresh update to its News app—a dedicated recipes section, dubbed Apple News+ Food, that promises to bring culinary inspiration straight to your iPhone and iPad screens. Set to launch as part of iOS 18.4 and iPadOS 18.4 this coming April, this new feature is exclusively available to Apple News+ subscribers, though a taste of it will also be served to non-subscribers with select stories and recipes.

Apple has announced that Apple News+ Food will offer “tens of thousands of recipes” sourced from some of the world’s top food publishers. You can expect to find content from well-known names such as Allrecipes, Bon Appétit, Food & Wine, Good Food, and Serious Eats—brands that have become synonymous with culinary excellence. This expansive collection aims not only to cater to the seasoned chef but also to inspire home cooks and culinary explorers alike.

Apple’s reputation for sleek, intuitive design shines through in this latest update. The recipes will be presented in a “beautifully designed recipe format” that makes it effortless to skim through ingredients and follow step-by-step instructions. But the innovation doesn’t stop there: a new cook mode is set to transform the way you interact with recipes. When activated, cook mode expands the instructions to a full-screen view, allowing users to focus solely on their culinary task without distractions—a feature that could easily become a game-changer in busy kitchens.

While the core of Apple News+ Food is, of course, its extensive library of recipes, the section is more than just a digital cookbook. Apple News editors will also curate a selection of food stories, offering context, trends, and deeper dives into the culinary world. This blend of recipes and narrative content reflects a broader trend in digital media—where practical how-tos meet lifestyle storytelling—making the update not only useful but also engaging for readers who crave both inspiration and information.

For Apple News+ subscribers, the new recipes section adds another layer of value to an already diverse content offering. Priced at $12.99 per month, the service now extends its appeal from news and magazines into the vibrant world of food. Whether you’re looking to discover new dishes, refine your cooking techniques, or simply explore global cuisines from the comfort of your home, Apple News+ Food promises to deliver a buffet of culinary delights.

Interestingly, while full access is reserved for subscribers, Apple is also offering “select stories and recipes” for non-subscribers. This strategy not only serves as a teaser for the premium content but also underscores Apple’s broader aim to engage a wider audience by providing bite-sized experiences that might just leave them hungry for more.
