Rivian, the electric vehicle startup known for its adventure-ready trucks and SUVs, has just turned up the volume on its in-car entertainment experience. The company has announced that Apple Music, complete with its immersive spatial audio feature, is now available on all Rivian vehicles.
This integration means that owners of the R1T and R1S can now access a vast library of over 100 million songs, curated playlists, and live radio stations directly from their car’s infotainment system. It’s a seamless experience, designed to be as intuitive as using the Apple Music app on your iPhone.

But the real treat is for those who opted for Rivian’s Premium Audio package. This high-end sound system, boasting 18 speakers and a powerful 960-watt output, is capable of delivering Dolby Atmos music with spatial audio. Imagine your favorite tracks enveloping you in a three-dimensional soundscape as you cruise down the highway. It’s a truly immersive experience.

To enjoy this new audio adventure, Rivian owners will need a Connect+ subscription. This paid service, priced at $14.99 per month or $149.99 annually, unlocks a range of features beyond music streaming, including Wi-Fi hotspot, satellite imagery, and enhanced voice commands through Alexa. To sweeten the deal, Rivian is offering a two-month free trial of Connect+ for new subscribers.

Interestingly, Rivian has made a conscious decision to forgo Apple CarPlay in its vehicles. CEO RJ Scaringe believes that the car’s digital ecosystem is a crucial part of the overall driving experience, and they want to maintain full control over it. While this might disappoint some Apple enthusiasts, the integration of Apple Music is a significant step towards creating a unique and compelling in-car entertainment experience.
