Remember those frustrating times when you tried to capture a video of yourself dancing to your favorite song on your iPhone, only to have the music abruptly cut out? Well, those days are officially over. With the latest iOS 18 update, Apple has finally introduced a feature that allows users to record videos while audio is playing.
Gone are the days of having to awkwardly pause your music, record a clip, and then edit it later to add the soundtrack. Now, you can simply hit the record button and let the good times roll. Whether you’re lip-syncing to your favorite lyrics or showcasing your dance moves, the audio will continue to play seamlessly throughout your video.
How does it work? It’s pretty straightforward. Just head to your iPhone’s Settings app, go to Camera, and enable the “Allow Audio Playback” option. Once you’ve done that, you can start recording videos with your music playing in the background. If the audio is coming from your iPhone’s speaker, it will be captured by the microphone and included in your video.

While this is a great new feature, it’s worth noting that the audio quality may not be as pristine as if you were to add a soundtrack in a video editing app. However, for quick and dirty videos, it’s a convenient and easy solution.
Whether you’re capturing a candid moment or trying to match your moves to the beat, this update gives iPhone users a whole new way to blend sound and video without any extra hassle.
