Tech analysts shared new details about Apple‘s upcoming iPhone models, particularly the intriguingly named “iPhone 17 Slim.” According to Ross Young, an analyst at Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), this next-generation device is set to showcase a slightly smaller 6.55-inch display.
Young’s insights build upon a report recently circulated by Jeff Pu from Haitong International Securities. Pu had initially hinted that the speculated “iPhone 17 Plus,” anticipated for a 2025 release, might be rebranded as the “iPhone 17 Slim.”
The key difference seems to be in screen size. Pu had initially suggested a 6.6-inch display for the “iPhone 17 Slim,” which, compared to its predecessors (the iPhone 14, 15, and 16 Plus models sporting a 6.69-inch OLED display), hinted at a subtle downsizing trend. Now, Young’s clarification puts the display size of the “iPhone 17 Slim” at 6.55 inches—a modest two percent reduction from the current and upcoming models.
Why this reduction? A smaller screen could be Apple’s strategy to set apart the larger “iPhone 17” model from the high-end “iPhone 17 Pro Max,” which is expected to boast a larger display. Meanwhile, the “iPhone 17” and “iPhone 17 Pro” models are likely to feature 6.1-inch and 6.3-inch displays, respectively.
