As the summer months approach, Apple‘s supply chain is gearing up for the next generation of iPhones. According to display analyst Ross Young, production on the displays destined for the highly anticipated iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models is set to commence in June.
In a tweet restricted to subscribers, Young revealed that panel production for these devices will kick off next month, with the smaller-sized iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro anticipated to have the highest volume production projected for June.
This development marks a significant milestone in the lead-up to the launch of Apple’s latest smartphone lineup, expected to hit the market in September – the company’s typical iPhone release window.
While Apple’s suppliers will be manufacturing the displays, these components will ultimately find their way to the factories responsible for assembling the finished iPhone 16 models. As the supply chain prepares for this intricate dance of production and assembly, anticipation for the new devices continues to build.
According to rumors, the iPhone 16 family will bear a striking resemblance to its predecessor, the iPhone 15 series. However, Apple is rumored to be increasing the display sizes of the Pro models, catering to the ever-growing demand for larger screens.
The iPhone 16 Pro is expected to boast a 6.3-inch display, a modest yet noticeable increase from the 6.1-inch screen of its predecessor. Meanwhile, the iPhone 16 Pro Max will reportedly feature a massive 6.9-inch display, eclipsing the 6.7-inch panel of the previous generation.
Interestingly, the display sizes of the standard iPhone 16 models are rumored to remain unchanged, with the iPhone 16 sporting a 6.1-inch screen and the iPhone 16 Plus featuring a 6.7-inch display.
While design familiarity may be a theme, the iPhone 16 lineup is expected to introduce several innovative features and improvements. Rumors suggest the inclusion of a new “Capture” button for taking images and videos in landscape mode, a welcome addition for photographers and videographers alike.
Furthermore, the devices are anticipated to be powered by faster A-series chips, boasting improved performance and energy efficiency. Camera updates are also on the table, promising enhanced photography capabilities for Apple’s flagship smartphones.
Connectivity will also receive a boost, with reports indicating that select models in the lineup will support Wi-Fi 7 and faster 5G modems, ensuring seamless and lightning-fast internet access.
