For years, iPhone users have been left in the dark, guessing how long it would take their devices to charge. But that might soon change. A recent discovery in the iOS 18.2 beta has sparked excitement among Apple enthusiasts: a new feature dubbed “BatteryIntelligence.” This could help users manage their charging schedules more effectively by notifying them of an estimated time until their battery is fully charged.

As spotted by 9to5Mac, the iOS 18.2 beta contains code that suggests a future where our iPhones will proactively inform us about their charging progress. This is a significant step forward, especially considering the diverse range of chargers, cables, and charging protocols available today. While some Android devices have already embraced this feature, Apple’s entry into the game could set a new standard for user experience.

While the “BatteryIntelligence” feature is undoubtedly exciting, it’s important to note that it’s still under development. This means it might not be immediately available to the public. However, Apple’s track record of refining and optimizing its software suggests that we can expect a polished and user-friendly implementation in the future.

Apple has consistently prioritized battery health in recent years. The iPhone 15 and later models introduced optimized charging, a feature that limits the battery’s charge to 80% to extend its lifespan. Additionally, Apple has made it easier for users to monitor their iPhone’s battery cycle count, providing valuable insights into its overall health.
