Apple‘s third beta for iOS 18.1 is introducing a significant upgrade to its notification system. The company’s AI-powered ‘Apple Intelligence‘ is now taking center stage, offering a more streamlined and intelligent way to manage incoming alerts.
One of the standout features in this update is the expanded notification summarization. Previously limited to Mail and Messages, this feature now extends to all your apps. Essentially, Apple Intelligence will analyze groups of notifications from a single app, extracting the key points. This condensed version will then appear on your Lock Screen, providing a quicker and less overwhelming overview.
Apple has ensured that users have granular control over this new feature. During the setup process, you can choose whether to summarize notifications from all apps or select specific ones. And if you change your mind later, you can easily adjust these preferences in the Settings app.
While the Lock Screen is the primary showcase for summarized notifications, this feature also complements the new ‘Reduce Interruptions’ Focus Mode. Together, they offer a more focused and less distracting experience.
It’s worth noting that this enhanced notification system is currently available only to developers testing the iOS 18.1 beta. However, Apple has confirmed that it will be rolling out to the public later this year.
