Tech giant Apple has given its popular HomePod mini a stylish makeover, introducing a new “midnight” color option. This darker shade closely resembles the original space gray that graced the mini’s launch, but aligns it with the midnight HomePod second-generation released last year.
While the space gray version might still be found lingering on shelves at select retailers like Best Buy, B&H Photo, and Target (for how long remains a mystery), the official new color scheme brings consistency across Apple’s smart speaker range.
The midnight HomePod mini hits store shelves on July 17th, priced at the familiar $99. This launch expands the mini’s color palette beyond the original space gray and white, joining its vibrant siblings in yellow, orange, and blue. Eco-conscious consumers will be pleased to learn that the new mini’s mesh fabric is crafted from 100% recycled materials, a step up from the previous 90% recycled content.

Don’t expect any revolutionary changes under the hood, though. The midnight mini boasts the same features and functionality as its predecessors. Siri remains your loyal voice assistant, while built-in sensors keep tabs on temperature and humidity. Multi-room audio enthusiasts will appreciate the intercom function that connects seamlessly across Siri-enabled devices. For added peace of mind, the HomePod mini can even detect smoke or carbon monoxide alarms, sending alerts straight to your iPhone.
