An mockup image showing adding money to Apple Cash. A smartphone is displayed against a pink background. The screen shows a financial transaction interface with the option to ‘Add Money’ selected. The amount of $50 is highlighted, and below it, the new balance after adding is shown as $258.53. A numeric keypad is visible at the bottom of the screen with numbers from 1 to 9 arranged in a grid, and 0 at the center bottom. There are two buttons flanking the zero; one appears to be for decimal input and the other could be a delete or backspace key. At the top left corner of the screen, there’s a ‘Cancel’ button, and on the top right corner, an ‘Add’ button.

Get ready to show some ID, Apple Cash users! Starting October 4th, Apple is making it harder to send big bucks using their peer-to-peer payment service. If you want to send more than $500 at a time, you’ll need to verify your identity.

This means you’ll have to upload a copy of your driver’s license or passport and answer a few personal questions. It’s like a mini-background check, but for your digital wallet.

The new rule is part of Apple’s efforts to keep your money safe. With the ability to send cash instantly using just a tap, Apple wants to make sure bad actors don’t take advantage of the system. So, get ready to show your papers if you’re planning on sending a big chunk of change through Apple Cash.
