Apple‘s October event is just around the corner, and the leaks and rumors are piling up like leaves in autumn. While the tech giant hasn’t confirmed the date, industry insiders and analysts are practically certain it’s happening. And the stars of the show are expected to be the M4-powered MacBook Pros and entry-level iPads.
Now, a new piece of evidence has surfaced: a photo of what appears to be the packaging for the upcoming 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M4 chip. Shared by ShrimpApplePro on Twitter (now X), the image shows a box labeled with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. While we can’t confirm its authenticity, there’s no reason to doubt it yet.
If the image is genuine, it confirms a previous rumor that Apple is increasing the base RAM in its new MacBook Pros to 16GB. This is a significant upgrade from the 8GB that came with the previous generation.
While it’s possible the box belongs to a custom configuration, that seems unlikely. Apple typically doesn’t print the specific specs of custom-built machines on the packaging.
Reports suggest that the M4-powered MacBook Pros have already entered mass production, which means they’re likely being boxed up and ready to ship. So, if Apple does indeed hold its October event, we could see these new laptops on shelves very soon.
The M4-powered MacBook Pros are expected to come in 14-inch and 16-inch models, with M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max chip options.
