If you’ve been using macOS Sequoia, you might have noticed something annoying: Apple’s new requirement for users to regularly reauthorize permissions for screen recording apps. While some might appreciate the extra security, for many Mac users, these reminders can become a real hassle. During the beta testing phase, these prompts came up weekly, but Apple later dialed it back to a monthly annoyance. Still, who wants to deal with that?
Enter the Amnesia app. This handy little tool gives you a straightforward way to banish those pesky reminders for good. What’s great about Amnesia is that it alters the .plist file related to screen capture app access, making it a simple solution for those who prefer to live reminder-free. And the best part? It’s a “pay what you want” model, so you can contribute however much you feel is fair.
For those who enjoy a little DIY approach, there’s also a command-line fix available for those comfortable navigating the Terminal app. Jeff Johnson, known for his work on the Stop The Madness app, has shared some clear instructions for tweaking those .plists yourself. However, keep in mind that both the Amnesia app and the command-line method require you to disable reminders on an app-by-app basis. If you’re looking for a smoother experience, Amnesia is definitely the way to go.

A quick heads-up: Amnesia currently works on macOS Sequoia 15, but if you’ve jumped into the beta for Sequoia 15.1, you’ll have to hold off for a bit. An update is expected later today, so keep your eyes peeled.
