Amazon has long reigned as the king of online shopping for physical goods. Now, the tech titan is hungry for a slice of the booming food delivery market – and it’s feasting on a major acquisition to make that happen.

Amazon just upped the ante on its Prime membership program by adding free Grubhub food delivery to the mix. This means Prime members, who already enjoy benefits like free shipping, streaming services, and exclusive deals, can now get their favorite restaurant meals delivered straight to their doorsteps without paying a dime for delivery fees (on qualifying orders, of course).

Here’s the breakdown:

  • Prime + Grubhub = free food delivery — For an annual Prime membership fee of $139, you’ll now get free delivery on Grubhub orders of $12 or more. This is a permanent perk, unlike the previous one-year free subscription to Grubhub+ that Prime members received.
  • Same Grubhub experience — Ordering food through Amazon is just as easy as using the Grubhub app or website. The experience is designed to be identical, so you can browse menus, choose your favorite dishes, and track your delivery seamlessly.
  • Open to all — Even if you’re not a Prime member, you can still order food through Grubhub on Amazon.com or the Amazon Shopping app. This is a convenient option for everyone, regardless of membership status.
  • More than just delivery — The partnership between Amazon and Grubhub extends beyond free delivery. The two companies plan to collaborate on future promotions, including special food pairings and themed offerings like the Nuka Burger for the Fallout series premiere (talk about a delicious tie-in!).

This addition of free Grubhub delivery further sweetens the deal for Prime members. With access to services like Prime Video, Amazon Music, and other premium add-ons like RxPass (discounted prescriptions) and unlimited grocery delivery from Whole Foods and Amazon Fresh, Prime is becoming a one-stop shop for entertainment, convenience, and now, delicious meals.

Bonus Bite: To celebrate this new perk, Prime members can score an additional $5 off their Grubhub order of $25 or more when they place it through Amazon and use the code PRIME5 through June 2nd. So, fire up the Amazon app, browse those Grubhub menus, and get ready to enjoy a delicious meal delivered straight to your doorstep, compliments of your Prime membership.
