Age of Mythology: Retold has just opened a new chapter, and it’s one that fans have been waiting for since the game’s revival was announced. The Expansion Pass is now live, and with it comes the first major content drop: the New Gods Pack featuring Demeter. For longtime players, this isn’t just another add-on—it’s a return to the roots of mythic storytelling, with fresh mechanics and a goddess who embodies the power of nature itself.

Demeter arrives as a major Greek goddess, bringing with her a suite of divine powers that reshape the battlefield. She’s joined by three minor gods—Pan, Hestia, and Persephone—each offering their own unique abilities. The pack also introduces new myth units like Harpies, Lykaons, Hamadryads, and Sirens, creatures that feel pulled straight from the pages of ancient lore. Players can expect new strategies that disrupt economies, revive armies, and even halt enemy attacks, making Demeter’s toolkit one of the most versatile yet.

The storytelling side of Age of Mythology hasn’t been neglected either. A fully voiced Mythical Battle called Silent Sanctuary stars Chiron and Orpheus, weaving myth and gameplay together in a way that feels cinematic. It’s a reminder that this series has always been about more than just skirmishes—it’s about immersing players in the myths that shaped civilizations.

The Expansion Pass itself is designed as a one-stop ticket to everything new coming to Retold. Beyond Demeter, players will eventually unlock the Aztec Pantheon in Obsidian Mirror, a sweeping 12-mission campaign that introduces an entirely new culture and divine playstyle. It’s being billed as the most ambitious expansion in the franchise’s history, and considering how long fans have been asking for the Aztec gods, expectations are high.

There are also extras bundled in, like the Blood & Bones Pack, which adds a visceral visual overhaul with dynamic blood systems and prismatic effects for myth units, and the Ultimate Fan Pack, which lets players adorn temples and town centers with shimmering gold and unique pantheon icons. It’s clear that World’s Edge Studio is aiming not just to expand the game mechanically, but to give fans ways to show their devotion to the series.

What makes this release particularly exciting is how it bridges nostalgia with modern expectations. Age of Mythology has always been a cult favorite among real-time strategy fans, and Retold is positioning itself as both a faithful revival and a bold reinvention. By rolling out content in stages—starting with Demeter and culminating in the Aztec campaign—the Expansion Pass keeps the community engaged while offering a clear roadmap of what’s to come.

For players on Steam, Xbox, PS5, or the Microsoft Store, the Expansion Pass is available now, with Demeter ready to be unlocked. It’s a chance to step back into a world where gods walk among mortals, myth units clash in epic battles, and every skirmish feels like part of a larger legend. And if the arrival of Demeter is any indication, Age of Mythology: Retold is just getting started.
