HMD Global has managed to carve out a niche for itself with its range of devices that promise both reliability and affordability. However, the company’s track record with software updates has often left users in a state of anticipation, if not impatience. This narrative, though, is changing with the rollout of Android 15 to one of its latest offerings, the HMD Pulse Pro.

HMD has been on a journey to refine its update strategy, and with the Pulse Pro, they’ve initiated a significant step forward. The device has begun receiving the Android 15 update, which marks a notable milestone for HMD’s commitment to software support. This update, a hefty 3.12GB, doesn’t just bring the latest Android version but also packs the December 2024 security patches, enhancing user privacy and security.

Android 15 on the Pulse Pro is not just about the new version number. Users can expect significant performance boosts. The update is engineered to improve battery life through adaptive battery enhancements, ensuring longer usage periods between charges. Notification controls have been refined, offering users more nuanced options for managing alerts. This update is part of HMD’s broader promise to deliver two major OS updates and three years of security patches to the Pulse Pro, showcasing a commendable commitment to device longevity.

However, as with many large-scale software rollouts, the update isn’t being pushed to all devices simultaneously. Instead, it’s being released in batches, which means if you’re a Pulse Pro owner, patience might still be required. This staggered approach helps manage server load and ensures a smoother transition for users, mitigating potential issues that could arise from mass updates.

While the Pulse Pro leads the pack, it’s not alone in HMD’s update roadmap for Android 15. Other devices slated to receive this update include:

  • Nokia G42 5G
  • Nokia G60 5G
  • Nokia XR21 5G
  • Nokia X30 5G
  • HMD Pulse series
  • HMD Crest series
  • HMD Fusion
  • HMD Skyline
  • HMD XR21 5G
  • HMD T21

These updates might not land before the year’s end but are expected to roll out in early 2025, according to various tech blogs and forums tracking HMD’s updates.
