It looks like Threads, the social media app from Meta, is gearing up to introduce yet another feature that could make life easier for its users. According to Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, Threads will “soon” start testing the ability to schedule posts. This development was announced with a screenshot shared by Mosseri, showcasing a straightforward scheduling tool embedded within the Threads post editor.

The feature will allow users to choose a specific date and time for their posts to go live, but with a caveat: you won’t be able to schedule replies. Mosseri emphasized that this limitation is intentional, aiming to keep the essence of “real-time conversation” alive on the platform. While no specific rollout date was mentioned, Mosseri noted that this functionality has been in development “for months,” suggesting that a wider release might not be far off.

This addition is particularly exciting for brands, content creators, and those managing professional accounts. Scheduling posts can streamline content planning, ensuring consistent engagement without the need for real-time posting. Until now, scheduling on Threads has been possible only through third-party services, many of which come with a cost.

Threads seems to be on a path to becoming a more robust tool for professional use. This move follows the recent introduction of post analytics, another feature tested earlier in the month aimed at providing users with insights into their content’s performance. These enhancements indicate Meta’s strategy to cater more to businesses and professionals on Threads, especially as the platform reportedly approaches 300 million users.

The scheduling feature arrives at a time when Threads is rumored to be on the brink of introducing advertising, potentially as soon as next month. The ability to schedule posts alongside analytics could significantly enhance how advertisers and brands engage with their audiences, making ad campaigns more strategic and timely.

As we’ve seen with previous feature rollouts on Meta’s platforms, these tools are often tested with a small user base before a broader release. The exact timeline for when every Threads user can start scheduling their posts remains under wraps, but the anticipation is building. This evolution of Threads from a simple text-based conversation app to one with more professional-grade features reflects the dynamic nature of social media platforms today, always adapting to user needs and market demands.
