Managing dozens of open browser tabs can quickly turn Chrome into a cluttered workspace, making it harder to find important pages while potentially consuming valuable system resources. MacPaw is looking to address that problem with Browser Care, a new Chrome extension designed to help users organize tabs and keep resource-intensive pages under control.
Announced on November 5, 2026, Browser Care brings tab management and resource monitoring into a single interface. The extension is designed for people who regularly keep large numbers of tabs open and want to regain control without having to close pages they might need later.
Browser Care helps identify resource-heavy tabs
One of Browser Care’s main features is its ability to monitor how much memory individual Chrome tabs consume. Instead of leaving users to guess which pages are slowing things down, the extension brings resource-intensive tabs into one place.
Users can track high-memory tabs in real time and pause demanding pages to reduce their resource consumption. It also provides options to remove duplicate and older tabs, either individually or in bulk.
This could be particularly useful for people who use Chrome for research, work, or everyday multitasking, where closing tabs isn’t always a practical solution.
Find tabs across multiple Chrome windows
Browser Care also addresses another familiar problem: finding a specific webpage among dozens of open tabs spread across multiple browser windows.
Rather than relying on Chrome’s increasingly crowded tab bar, the extension provides a centralized vertical view of open tabs across all Chrome windows.
Users can search for individual tabs and organize their browsing workspace using several sorting options, including:
- Resource usage: Find tabs consuming the most system resources.
- Time open: Identify tabs that have been sitting open for a long time.
- Domain: Group or locate tabs based on their websites.
- Window: Organize tabs according to their Chrome window.
These options give users more flexibility when managing a large browsing session, particularly when working across multiple projects.
Browser Care requires a CleanMyMac subscription
There is one important catch: Browser Care isn’t being offered as an entirely standalone free Chrome extension.
MacPaw says the extension is available as part of an active CleanMyMac plan. Users can also access it through a free seven-day CleanMyMac trial, which includes Browser Care alongside the software’s other Mac cleaning and optimization tools.

MacPaw hasn’t listed a separate price for Browser Care in its announcement. Its availability is tied to the CleanMyMac subscription rather than an individual extension purchase.
With Browser Care, MacPaw is extending CleanMyMac’s focus beyond traditional Mac maintenance into everyday browser management. For users who treat their browser as a workspace and routinely accumulate dozens of open tabs, having a dedicated place to monitor, search, and organize them could make a noticeable difference.
