Apple has quietly rolled out a useful upgrade for iCloud+ subscribers who use custom email domains. If you’ve been bumping into the previous limit of three personalized email addresses per domain, you can now create up to 10 email addresses for each custom domain instead.
The change isn’t flashy, but it’s one of the most practical improvements Apple has made to iCloud+’s Custom Email Domain feature since it launched. It’s especially welcome for families, freelancers, small businesses, and anyone who prefers using their own domain name instead of a standard icloud [dot] com address.
More flexibility for custom email domains
With an iCloud+ subscription, Apple lets users connect domains they already own to iCloud Mail. That means you can send and receive email using addresses like hello [at] yourdomain [dot] com while still using Apple’s Mail app and iCloud infrastructure.
Until now, each custom domain supported only three personalized email addresses. Apple has increased that limit to 10 addresses per domain, giving users much more room to organize their communications.
That extra capacity makes the feature significantly more practical for businesses and creators who manage multiple inbox identities without paying for a separate email hosting service.
Still included with iCloud+
The increase doesn’t require a new subscription tier or additional purchase. It’s available as part of iCloud+, Apple’s paid cloud service that bundles several premium features beyond extra storage.
Apple’s support documentation now states that subscribers can use up to five custom domains, with up to 10 personalized email addresses per domain. Users can also share a custom domain with up to five other people, and each invited person can create up to 10 personalized addresses on that domain.
Why this matters
Custom email hosting typically requires paying for services such as Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, or dedicated email hosting providers. For many individuals and small organizations that already subscribe to iCloud+, Apple’s offering can eliminate that extra expense while keeping everything integrated with the Apple ecosystem.
The higher address limit is particularly useful for:
- Small businesses that need multiple department email addresses
- Families sharing a single domain
- Freelancers and creators who separate work, personal, and public-facing inboxes
- Users who want cleaner organization without creating additional domains
It’s a relatively small update, but one that makes iCloud+’s Custom Email Domain feature considerably more useful for real-world use.
