ASUS is officially stepping into Google’s new Googlebook era with the ASUS Googlebook 14, a premium 14-inch laptop designed around Gemini Intelligence, Android integration, and Intel’s latest Core Ultra Series 3 processors.

The new laptop is the first ASUS device designed specifically for Gemini Intelligence. ASUS is positioning it as an ultraportable for people who want a closer connection between their laptop and Android phone, while still getting the kind of hardware normally associated with premium productivity machines.

The ASUS Googlebook 14 weighs as little as 0.99kg and measures just 10.9mm at its thinnest point. Its CNC-machined magnesium-aluminum chassis comes in a Dusk Ash finish and uses ASUS Nano Ceramic Technology, which is designed to help the surface resist scratches, stains, and everyday abrasion. ASUS says the machine has also been tested against the MIL-STD 810H standard alongside its own durability testing.

The display is one of the biggest reasons this doesn’t feel like a conventional Chromebook. ASUS has fitted the Googlebook 14 with a 14-inch 16:10 3K OLED touchscreen running at 120Hz. The panel reaches up to 1,000 nits of peak HDR brightness and covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, while Gorilla Glass Victus and a matte anti-glare treatment help with durability and reflections.

Under the hood, the Googlebook 14 uses Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors. ASUS says configurations can reach an Intel Core Ultra 7 Series 3 chip, with up to 64GB of LPDDR5X memory and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD. Intel says its Core Ultra Series 3 platform combines CPU, GPU, and NPU architectures and is built on Intel’s 18A process technology.

The configuration listed by Best Buy is somewhat more modest, pairing an Intel Core Ultra 5 325 processor with 16GB of LPDDR5X memory and a 512GB PCIe Gen 4 SSD. That particular model has the same 3K OLED touchscreen and Dusk Ash finish.

ASUS has also packed a surprisingly large battery into the thin chassis. The 70Wh battery is rated for up to 18 hours of battery life, although actual endurance will naturally depend on the configuration, workload, applications, and other conditions.

Gemini is the point of the Googlebook

The hardware is only half of the story. ASUS Googlebook 14 is built around Google’s new Gemini Intelligence experience, giving Gemini a more active role in everyday laptop interactions.

One of the more unusual features is Magic Pointer. Users can wiggle the cursor to activate Gemini and then point at objects or information on the screen. From there, Gemini can help perform actions based on what is being displayed. ASUS gives examples such as turning two images into a poster or recognizing a date and adding it to a calendar.

The laptop can also provide proactive suggestions based on what’s on screen. ASUS says Gemini can surface relevant information from emails, recall calendar details, and suggest actions without requiring the user to explicitly ask for help every time.

That’s an important distinction from simply putting a chatbot on a laptop. Googlebook is being designed around Gemini as part of the operating experience, with the AI intended to understand the context of what users are doing rather than existing as a separate app they have to open.

ASUS is also bundling 12 months of Google AI Pro with the Googlebook 14 for eligible purchases and activations beginning October 1. The offer includes expanded access to Gemini and other Google AI features, along with 5TB of cloud storage.

Your Android phone becomes part of the laptop

ASUS is making Android integration another major part of the Googlebook experience.

With supported Android phones, users can move between their phone and Googlebook more seamlessly, access phone apps and files, and cast phone apps to the laptop. ASUS says supported devices running Android 17 or later can participate in the experience, with setup required.

That puts Googlebook in an interesting position. Rather than treating the laptop and smartphone as separate devices, Google and its hardware partners are trying to make the Android phone an extension of the laptop experience.

The approach is somewhat reminiscent of the continuity features that have become increasingly important across other device ecosystems. The difference here is that Googlebook is being built specifically around Google’s services, Android, and Gemini.

Plenty of ports for a 0.99kg laptop

Despite its thin design, ASUS hasn’t gone too aggressive with the port cuts.

The Googlebook 14 includes two full-function Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports with Power Delivery and DisplayPort 1.4 support, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, an HDMI 2.1b port, and a 3.5mm headphone and microphone combo jack. Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0 provide wireless connectivity.

There’s also a six-speaker audio system with dual force-canceling woofers and two tweeters, along with Dolby Atmos support on the retail configuration. ASUS has paired that with a large six-point haptic touchpad and a backlit keyboard with 1.5mm of key travel.

In other words, ASUS is clearly aiming beyond the basic “browser laptop” idea. The Googlebook 14 is being positioned as a full-fledged premium laptop that happens to be built around Google’s new computing platform.

ASUS Googlebook 14 price and availability

The ASUS Googlebook 14 is listed by Best Buy at $1,299 for the Intel Core Ultra 5 325 configuration with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Best Buy lists October 4, 2026 as the release date for that model.

Google says Googlebook devices will begin appearing on store shelves starting October 4, with availability varying by market. Intel separately says its Core Ultra Series 3-powered Googlebook laptops from ASUS, Acer, and Lenovo will be available beginning October 5 in selected markets, including the US, Canada, the UK, Germany, France, Australia, and New Zealand.

For ASUS, the Googlebook 14 represents a fairly significant departure from the company’s conventional Chromebook lineup. It combines a sub-1kg magnesium-aluminum design, a high-resolution 120Hz OLED touchscreen, Intel’s newest mobile silicon, a large battery, and a software experience that puts Gemini and Android continuity at the center.

Googlebook is still a new category, so the interesting question isn’t simply whether the ASUS machine has good hardware. It’s whether Google’s attempt to turn Gemini and Android into the connective tissue between a phone and a laptop can make this new class of computer feel meaningfully different from the laptops we’ve been using for years.
