Belkin is bringing a new kind of battery technology to the power bank aisle at IFA 2026, and it is doing so with two products that are considerably more interesting than the usual “bigger battery, faster charging” refresh.
The company has introduced the UltraCharge Pro Slim Magnetic Power Bank 5K and the UltraCharge Pro Power Bank 10K with Display, both built around Belkin’s new BoostSolid Cell technology. The company describes the cells as semi-solid-state, using a gel-like layer alongside the liquid electrolyte used in conventional batteries. The idea is to make portable batteries slimmer, more durable and less vulnerable to some of the problems that have become increasingly important as charging speeds and battery capacities continue to climb.
The two power banks were announced on September 3 ahead of their appearance at IFA 2026 in Berlin. Belkin says both are designed around the same BoostSolid approach, but they target rather different types of users: the 5,000mAh model is all about keeping a phone topped up without adding much bulk, while the 10,000mAh version is intended to be a more capable everyday battery for phones, tablets and even compatible laptops.
And that difference matters. Power banks have become remarkably capable over the past few years, but they have also become easier to make bulky. Once you start adding high-wattage USB-C ports, multiple outputs, displays, larger batteries and thermal protection, the “portable” part can start to feel like an afterthought.
Belkin’s approach with UltraCharge Pro is essentially to attack that problem at the battery-cell level.
The headline technology is BoostSolid Cell, which Belkin says adds a gel-like layer alongside the liquid electrolyte. That is why the company calls it semi-solid-state rather than simply solid-state. It is not the fully solid battery architecture that has been discussed for years across the automotive and consumer electronics industries. Instead, Belkin is using a hybrid cell design intended to combine some of the advantages of solid-state technology with a form that can be used in a consumer power bank today.
Belkin says the architecture can help reduce the risk of thermal runaway, fire and swelling while allowing the batteries to maintain stable charging performance between 0 and 40 degrees Celsius. The company has also added both analog and digital temperature sensors that monitor the battery every 250 milliseconds and can interrupt power when operating limits are exceeded.
That focus on safety is particularly relevant for something people throw into backpacks, handbags and carry-on luggage without thinking twice. A power bank spends a lot of its life being charged, discharged, bumped around and exposed to changing temperatures. It also has to coexist with increasingly powerful USB-C charging systems.
Belkin says the UltraCharge Pro batteries meet UL2056:2025 safety-standard requirements and TSA carry-on guidance. The company has also subjected them to tests involving nail punctures, high temperatures, extreme cold, drops, impacts and vibration.
There is another claim that will probably get plenty of attention: Belkin says the BoostSolid Cell models are engineered for up to three times the battery life of other power banks.
There is some important context behind that number. Belkin’s own fine print says the batteries retain up to 80% of their capacity after 1,000 charge cycles, while its estimated five-year lifespan assumes one complete charge and discharge every two days. In other words, the “three times longer” claim is based on cycle-life comparisons rather than a guarantee that every unit will physically last five years. Belkin also notes that real-world performance can vary.
Still, cycle life is one of the more meaningful things to improve in a power bank. Capacity and charging speed are easy numbers to put on a box. A battery that remains useful after years of regular charging is a much more practical improvement.
The smaller of the two new models is the UltraCharge Pro Slim Magnetic Power Bank 5K. It packs a 5,000mAh battery into a body that is just 8.8mm thick. Belkin says it is 40% slimmer than other 5,000mAh power banks in its comparison and is roughly the size of a credit card.
That makes this the more interesting model for anyone who hates carrying a conventional power bank.

The 5K supports Qi2-certified magnetic wireless charging at up to 15W, so it can attach magnetically to compatible smartphones and charge without a cable. There is also a USB-C port capable of up to 22.5W under Belkin’s specified charging protocol, although its fine print notes that the output can reach up to 20W under USB Power Delivery. Pass-through charging is supported at up to 7.5W wirelessly.
Belkin has also given it a metal construction with a soft-touch finish, an LED battery indicator and an included braided USB-C-to-USB-C cable. It will be available in black and sand.
The UltraCharge Pro Slim Magnetic Power Bank 5K is priced at $69.99 in the US. Belkin says it is already available to order through its website, with Amazon availability beginning September 8.
At $69.99, this is not trying to be the cheapest 5,000mAh power bank on the shelf. That is clearly not the point. Belkin is betting that people will pay more for a slimmer design, Qi2 magnetic charging and the potential longevity and safety benefits of the BoostSolid battery architecture.
Then there is the more serious option.
The UltraCharge Pro Power Bank 10K with Display doubles the capacity to 10,000mAh and moves into territory where a power bank becomes useful for more than simply rescuing a phone battery at the end of the day.
Belkin says the 10K model has a 27% smaller volume than a standard 45W power bank of similar capacity. It supports up to 60W USB-C Power Delivery, making it capable of charging smartphones, tablets and some laptops. The company says it can charge an iPhone 17 Pro from 0 to 50% in around 24 minutes under its internal testing, while the power bank itself can be fully recharged in as little as two hours.

The port selection is considerably more flexible than the 5K model. There are two USB-C ports, with up to 60W available from a single port and up to 27W when the outputs are shared. USB-C input goes up to 40W, while a USB-A port can deliver up to 22.5W. Pass-through charging is also supported, this time at up to 15W.
And, finally, there is a display.
The built-in screen shows battery status, charging power and thermal information, giving users a quick way to see what the battery is doing without relying on a phone or simply guessing from a row of LEDs. The 10K model also supports PD, PPS, AVS and UFCS charging protocols for dynamic power adjustment.
That display may sound like a small convenience, but it fits the direction the power-bank market has been heading. Once a battery can deliver enough power to charge a laptop, knowing whether it is actually delivering 15W, 30W or 60W becomes useful. The screen turns that information from something hidden inside the charging electronics into something the user can see.
The UltraCharge Pro 10K costs $89.99 in the US and comes in the same black and sand finishes. Like the 5K, it is available to order from Belkin now, with Amazon availability scheduled for September 8.
The timing is also worth watching. Belkin is not the first company to experiment with semi-solid-state power banks, so the technology itself is not appearing out of nowhere. Other manufacturers have already brought similar battery concepts to portable chargers. What makes Belkin’s move notable is the combination of the technology with a mainstream accessory brand and relatively familiar price points.
That is probably the bigger story here.
Solid-state and semi-solid-state batteries have spent years being discussed as the next big thing in battery technology, often in the context of electric vehicles or smartphones. Getting a version of that technology into something as ordinary as a power bank makes the idea considerably easier to understand. You do not have to wait for the next generation of cars or phones to see what the technology is supposed to accomplish.
In Belkin’s case, the pitch is straightforward: make the battery thinner, make it last longer, keep temperatures under control and give people more confidence about carrying it around.
Whether the BoostSolid cells actually deliver a meaningful advantage over conventional lithium-ion power banks will take longer to establish. Belkin’s 1,000-cycle claim is encouraging, but real-world longevity is something reviewers and owners will have to test over time. The same is true of the safety advantages. Laboratory testing can tell us a lot, but years of everyday use tell us something different.
For now, though, the two UltraCharge Pro models offer a pretty sensible split.
The 5K is the pocketable one. At 8.8mm thick, with Qi2 magnetic charging and a $69.99 price tag, it is aimed at people who want an emergency battery that does not feel like they are carrying a battery.
The 10K is the workhorse. With 60W USB-C output, multiple ports, a display and enough capacity to move beyond phones into tablets and compatible laptops, it is much closer to an all-purpose travel power bank.
Both are also a reminder that the next meaningful improvements in portable charging may not come simply from adding more milliamp-hours. Battery chemistry, thermal management, physical design and longevity are becoming just as important as raw capacity.
That makes Belkin’s IFA 2026 launch more interesting than another pair of power banks with slightly faster charging. The UltraCharge Pro line is effectively an attempt to make the battery itself better, rather than just making the numbers on the box bigger.
And if semi-solid-state technology can eventually become as ordinary in a power bank as USB-C and Qi2 are today, these two UltraCharge Pro models may end up looking less like a novelty and more like an early step toward where portable power is going next.
