Perplexity has just leveled up its Comet AI browser with a fresh native experience tailored specifically for iPad users, making it feel right at home on Apple‘s big-screen tablets. Announced yesterday via an X post from the official Comet account, the update brings seamless integration with key iPadOS features like multiple windows and Split View, so you can run Comet side-by-side with your favorite apps without any clunky workarounds. It’s available now for free on the App Store, requiring iPadOS 18.0 or later, and early feedback from users is buzzing with excitement about how it supercharges productivity on the go.

If you’re not familiar with Comet, it’s Perplexity’s Chromium-based AI-powered browser that’s been shaking up the web since its desktop launch in July 2025, followed by Android in November and iPhone in March 2026. Unlike traditional browsers that just load pages, Comet embeds Perplexity’s answer engine right into your tabs, letting you ask questions about any site, get instant summaries in any language, or even handle tasks like shopping and scheduling without jumping apps. The iPad version builds on that by embracing iPadOS multitasking—imagine splitting your screen to have Comet researching a topic on one side while you jot notes in Apple Notes or draft an email in Mail on the other.

This rollout comes after Comet’s iPhone debut, where it was praised for blending quick search results with deeper AI assistance, but tablet users were left waiting for proper native support. Now, with multiple windows, you can open separate Comet instances for different projects, drag them into Split View for efficient workflows, or even use Stage Manager for more complex setups. Users on X are already raving: one called it a “game changer for research,” another said it turns the iPad into a “real second-brain device,” and folks are hoping for extras like password manager sync or vertical tabs next.

For iPad power users in the US—think students cramming for exams, professionals handling reports, or creators like you digging into tech news—this means ditching tab overload and letting AI do the heavy lifting. Fire up Comet next to Safari or Chrome, query “latest iPad Pro deals on Best Buy,” and it’ll pull real-time answers with citations, all while keeping your workflow smooth. Perplexity’s rapid pace here is impressive; they iterated from basic iPad compatibility to full native features in months, powered by models like GPT-4o, Claude 3.5 Sonnet, and their own Sonar for accurate, grounded responses.

The timing feels spot-on with iPadOS 18 emphasizing better multitasking, and it’s free to try (with Pro upgrades for heavier use), positioning Comet as a serious rival to Arc or SigmaOS on tablets. If you’re stateside and already in the Perplexity ecosystem, grab the update—it’s a casual upgrade that could make your iPad your new daily driver for everything from gadget reviews to AI trend hunting.
