Google Vids now lets you edit AI scripts when converting Slides to video

Google Vids now shows you Gemini’s script for each slide before import, so you can clean up the wording and tone before your video ever hits the editor.

Right side shows "AI voiceover" settings with a Narrator option (smooth, medium pitch) and a play button. Top includes a "Replace with speaker notes" link. Bottom has a "Rate this suggestion" section with thumbs up/down feedback options and a blue "Create the draft video" button

Google is making it easier to turn your Slides decks into polished Vids without all the messy rework at the end.

When you import a Google Slides presentation into Google Vids with Gemini turned on, you’ll now see the AI‑generated script for each slide up front, before the tool creates your draft video. Earlier, you had to wait for the video to be generated and then dive into the editor to fix lines that felt off or too robotic.

In the new flow, you get a script review screen as part of the “Convert Slides to Vids” workflow. Here, you can either tweak the AI script line by line or decide to stick with your original speaker notes for specific slides. That means you control the tone, jargon, and level of detail before any voiceover is recorded or animations are applied. For people who care about narrative and pacing—sales, marketing, educators, trainers—this is the phase where you can make the story sound like you, not like a generic AI.

The big win is time saved. By editing scripts at the start, you avoid that back‑and‑forth cycle of fixing text, regenerating audio, and replaying scenes after the video is already assembled. You can lock in the script and message once, and then let Vids handle the voiceover and visuals with far fewer corrections later. It also makes it easier to fine‑tune the AI voiceover so it matches your intended emphasis—short punchy lines for a pitch, or more detailed explanations for a lesson or tutorial.

To actually see this script editor, users need to enable the “Include AI voiceover, script, and background music” toggle in the conversion flow. If that’s turned off, Vids skips the script step entirely and jumps straight into importing your slides. There’s no special admin control for this—it’s on by default for end users, who can choose to disable it if they prefer a simpler import.

The feature is already rolling out: Rapid Release domains started getting it from March 31, 2026, with a gradual rollout of up to 15 days, while Scheduled Release domains are set for a full rollout starting April 14, 2026 (1–3 days for visibility). It’s available across a wide swath of Google Workspace editions, including Business Starter, Standard, Plus; Enterprise Starter, Standard, Plus; Education Plus and Teaching and Learning add‑on; Enterprise Essentials and Essentials Plus; Nonprofits; and consumer plans like Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra, as well as AI add‑ons such as AI Ultra Access, AI Expanded Access, and Google AI Pro for Education.

In practice, this update is aimed at anyone who regularly reuses slide decks—think sales teams turning pitch decks into short videos, teachers converting lessons into explainer clips, or internal comms teams repackaging town hall decks into quick recaps. Instead of rewriting the story after the fact, you now get a clean, script‑first workflow: set the narrative, let Gemini help, edit what you don’t like, and then generate a video that’s much closer to publish‑ready on the first pass.
