Xiaomi‘s sub-brand, Redmi, has officially put an end to speculation by confirming the launch date for the much-anticipated Redmi Turbo 4. Set to debut on Thursday, January 2, 2025, in China, this device marks Xiaomi’s first smartphone release of the new year, kicking off with a bang.

The Redmi Turbo 4 is already up for early reservation through Xiaomi’s various channels. Consumers eager to get their hands on this device won’t have to wait long, as it will be available for open sale immediately following its launch.

While the device will first hit the Chinese market, there’s strong speculation that the Redmi Turbo 4 will be rebranded as the Poco X7 Pro for international markets. This aligns with Xiaomi’s dual-brand strategy, providing different market segments with tailored product offerings under different names and slight specification tweaks.

The official renders shared on Weibo give us a glimpse into the design philosophy of the Redmi Turbo 4. It sports a sleek ‘Lucky Cloud White’ color option with flat sides and a gentle curvature on the back, enhancing both the look and feel in the hand. A distinctive red accent line runs vertically down the back, adding a pop of color and character. The camera setup is particularly noteworthy, with a 50MP primary shooter leading the charge, complemented by an 8MP ultrawide lens. This setup suggests high expectations for photography, even in the mid-range segment.

The heart of the Redmi Turbo 4 is MediaTek’s new Dimensity 8400 SoC, which is rumored to feature an all-big core CPU configuration, promising superior performance metrics. This makes the Turbo 4 a significant player for those seeking flagship performance without the flagship price tag.

Spec leaks paint a picture of a device equipped with a 6.67-inch LTPS OLED display boasting FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth visuals. It’s expected to come with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, catering to multitasking and gaming enthusiasts. Battery life is another highlight, with a substantial 6,550 mAh battery that supports 90W fast charging, promising quick top-ups and extended usage.
