Get ready to ditch the console – Microsoft is bringing Xbox Cloud Gaming to Amazon’s Fire TV Sticks in July. This means you’ll be able to stream a vast library of Xbox titles directly to your TV, without the need for a bulky console taking up space in your entertainment center.
Starting next month, Microsoft will be launching its Xbox TV app on select Fire TV devices. This app will be the gateway to Xbox Cloud Gaming, allowing subscribers to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate to stream hundreds of games straight to their Fire TV Stick.
For now, compatibility is limited to the Fire TV Stick 4K Max and Fire TV Stick 4K models. But hey, if you own one of these, you’re in luck! All you’ll need to get started is your Fire TV Stick, a Bluetooth controller (because who games without one?), and an active Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription.

“Over the past few years, we’ve been on a mission to deliver cloud gaming to more devices and players worldwide,” says Ashley McKissick, the big cheese over at Xbox experiences and platforms engineering. “We’re thrilled to welcome Fire TV to our ever-expanding family of cloud gaming devices, and we can’t wait to introduce this awesome experience to a whole new generation of gamers.”
So, if you’ve been yearning to play the latest Xbox titles but haven’t quite convinced yourself to splurge on a console, this is your chance to jump into the Xbox ecosystem without the hefty investment. With Xbox Cloud Gaming coming to Fire TV Sticks in July, all you need is a subscription, a controller, and a Fire TV Stick – the rest is just pure gaming bliss.
