Is a quicker way to express yourself on WhatsApp on the horizon? It seems so. The popular messaging app is reportedly cooking up a new feature that will allow users to react to messages with a simple double-tap. This would be a significant departure from the current method that requires a long press to access the reaction options.
According to WABetaInfo, the initial double-tap reaction will be a heart emoji, mirroring the functionality seen in Instagram direct messages. This change is designed to streamline the process of expressing quick reactions, such as appreciation or agreement.

However, don’t worry about losing the variety of reactions you’ve grown accustomed to. The current method of long-pressing a message to bring up the full range of reaction options will still be available. This means you can choose the perfect emoji to convey your sentiments, whether it’s a laughing face, a thumbs up, or something more specific.
WhatsApp is also enhancing the reaction experience for media content. A new reaction button is being introduced to the media viewer, allowing users to react to photos and videos directly without leaving the viewer. This is a convenient addition that further simplifies the interaction process.
While these features are still in development and haven’t been officially released, their appearance in beta versions suggests that they could be rolled out to the public in the near future.
