TikTok has unveiled a new API that enables users to seamlessly post content directly from approved third-party applications. Expanding on the existing “Share to TikTok” feature, this enhancement promises to provide TikTok’s creative community with a broader array of resources and tools, streamlining their content creation experience both on and off the platform. Notable early collaborators for the Direct Post API include industry giants such as Adobe, Twitch, and Blackmagic Design, the creators of Davinci Resolve.
With the introduction of TikTok’s Direct Post API, content creators will be able to draft posts, add captions, manage audience settings, and even schedule or publish their content directly from compatible third-party apps. Initially, this feature will be limited to videos, but the inclusion of photo content is on the horizon.
At its launch, a selection of third-party software will support this exciting feature, including Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Express, CapCut (owned by TikTok’s parent company ByteDance), DaVinci Resolve, SocialPilot, and Twitch. TikTok has emphasized that all developer partners will undergo a rigorous vetting process before they can access the API, ensuring the integrity of the platform.
Deepa Subramaniam, Vice President of Creative Cloud Marketing at Adobe, emphasized the growing need for real-time content sharing and efficient creative tools. She stated, “Now more than ever, publishing content in real-time has become a necessity, and creators of all skill levels need tools that can empower them with greater efficiency and without constraints. With the new Direct Post feature for TikTok available in Adobe Express and Premiere Pro, creators can continue to create standout content but with increased speed and without adding more interruption to their creative workflows.” This update promises to revolutionize the way TikTok creators engage with and share their content, offering them a more efficient and streamlined process.
