Tesla owners have something big to look forward to next month – major improvements to the company’s semi-autonomous driving capabilities, specifically its Summon and Autopark features. And in a whimsical twist, the Autopark function is getting rebranded with a new name that encapsulates its convenience: Banish.

The upcoming enhancements were teased by none other than Tesla CEO Elon Musk himself in a recent post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Musk has been hinting at “really cool stuff coming this month and next” for Tesla, sending waves of speculation and anticipation across the company’s dedicated fan base and owners.

While Tesla’s autonomous driving capabilities have long been a point of intrigue and aspiration, certain features like the Auto Wipers have also garnered wish lists from owners seeking further refinements. However, it appears that the Silicon Valley automaker has been diligently working behind the scenes to elevate some of its marquee self-driving offerings, including Summon and the soon-to-be-renamed Autopark, now christened “Banish.”

Musk’s simple yet tantalizing tweet hinted at the forthcoming improvements: “Major improvements coming for Summon & Banish (Autopark) next month.”

For the uninitiated, Summon is Tesla’s nifty feature that allows owners to summon their vehicle to their location, perhaps the closest thing to having a real-life remote-controlled car at one’s beck and call. While undoubtedly convenient, the feature has had its fair share of shortcomings and opportunities for improvement, particularly when it comes to navigating complex parking lot environments with precision and confidence.

The promised upgrades could very well address these pain points, increasing the accuracy and reliability of Summon, and making it an even more practical and trusted tool in an owner’s automotive arsenal.

But the real showstopper might be the revamped and rebranded “Banish” feature, formerly known as Autopark. The cheeky new moniker seems to capture the essence of the feature’s purpose – allowing owners to essentially make their vehicle disappear on its own, finding and slotting into a vacant parking spot without the driver having to manually maneuver the car or even be present inside.

This level of autonomy and convenience could prove to be a game-changer, not only further enhancing the Tesla ownership experience but also serving as a tangible step forward in the pursuit of true self-driving capabilities.

While details on the specific improvements remain scant, the mere promise of major upgrades has already set the Tesla community abuzz with excitement and speculation. After all, any progress in this realm is a testament to the company’s unwavering commitment to pushing the boundaries of automotive technology and redefining what it means to be a truly intelligent, self-aware vehicle.

As April draws nearer, Tesla owners and enthusiasts alike will undoubtedly be keeping a close eye on any developments, eagerly anticipating the moment when they can witness their vehicles “banish” themselves into parking spots or summon them with newfound prowess and reliability.
