The Tesla world is abuzz with excitement over the rumored, super-quick version of the company’s popular Model 3 sedan. But according to a slew of newly leaked video, the purported “Ludicrous” variant will offer more than just blistering acceleration – it appears poised to be a substantially upgraded and more aggressive evolution of Tesla’s mass-market electric vehicle.

The leaks, shared on X/Twitter by Tesla enthusiasts and watchers like Nic Cruz Patane, provide our first glimpses at parts of the mysterious new car’s exterior and interior design changes, as well as hints about its driving modes and performance settings.

Perhaps most tantalizing is a short video clip circulating online that briefly shows some of the new menus and options in the car’s central touchscreen display. Three drive modes are visible: Chill, Sport, and curiously, “Insane” rather than the expected “Ludicrous” moniker.

Despite the name discrepancy, other leaked details suggest the purported “Ludicrous” Model 3 will live up to its hyper-aggressive marketing. Beyond just punchier acceleration, the vehicle appears to pack an assortment of performance upgrades like an adjustable Active Suspension system with Standard and Sport settings, and an automatic Shift mode to instantly toggle between forward and reverse – a convenience feature currently limited to Tesla’s higher-end offerings like the Model X.

On the aesthetic front, the redesigned Model 3 seems to adopt a much more aggressive, muscular stance. Leaked images show a re-sculpted front fascia with larger air intakes, side skirts, and a subtle trunk lip spoiler rendered in carbon fiber. The interior too receives a sporty remix, with newly contoured seats and a crisp carbon fiber accent strip adorning the dashboard.

While Tesla has stayed characteristically tight-lipped about future product plans, rabid fan interest proves the market’s appetite for an even higher-performance, track-focused iteration of the company’s most affordable model.

If the leaked details and specs prove accurate, the so-called “Ludicrous” M3 shapes up to be far more than just a straight-line speed demon. With its comprehensive chassis upgrades, luxurious cosmetic touches, and innovative new driving features, it could rewrite the understanding of what an accessible, high-performance EV can be.

Of course, no rumor is complete without rampant speculation about pricing. While Tesla is sure to command a premium for such a comprehensive redesign, an affordable price tag could make this the performance bargain EV enthusiasts have been waiting for.
