Bethesda Game Studios has finally pulled back the curtain on Shattered Space, the much-anticipated first major expansion for Starfield. Nearly a year after Starfield‘s initial launch, Shattered Space promises to plunge players into a darker narrative set against a mysterious new world.

While a specific release date remains under wraps, Bethesda confirmed a 2024 launch window, giving Starfield captains something exciting to mark on their galactic calendars.

The newly released trailer offers a tantalizing glimpse into what awaits players in Shattered Space. A stark contrast to the main Starfield campaign’s vibrant world, the expansion leans heavily into a more ominous atmosphere. The trailer opens with a player’s spaceship approaching a foreboding cityscape, shrouded in an unsettling mist. This is Dazra, the hidden homeworld of the enigmatic House Va’ruun faction encountered in the base game.

The official description for Shattered Space hints at a gripping new storyline: “A mysterious power stirs in the city of Dazra on House Va’ruun’s hidden homeworld. Investigate a frightening cosmic threat, explore a new planet, and find unique weapons, spacesuits, and gear in this all-new adventure.”

In addition to the exciting reveal of Shattered Space, Bethesda also announced a new content update available to download today. This free update brings a wave of fresh content for Starfield veterans, including new gear and challenging bounties to tackle.

But perhaps the most significant addition is the introduction of “creations,” essentially Bethesda’s official term for mod support. This means players can now discover and directly access new content crafted by both Bethesda Game Studios and the wider Starfield creator community. Imagine diving into new storylines, exploring uncharted star systems, or encountering unique challenges – all created by passionate Starfield fans! With creations being accessible directly through the in-game Creations menu, discovering and integrating this new content into your Starfield experience promises to be seamless.
