French regulators have fined Sony Interactive Entertainment almost €13.5 million for abusing its market dominance to crowd out third-party PlayStation 4 game controllers.
France’s competition authority said Sony illegally used firmware updates to lock out alternative PS4 pads and steering wheels not made by Sony. While aimed at blocking counterfeit controllers, the move also accidentally rendered some licensed third-party gamepads useless.
