PlayStation VR2 now compatible with PC! Sony has announced the release of the long-awaited PC adapter. With this adapter, PC gamers will be able to play VR games from SteamVR’s vast library on PlayStation VR2.
The adapter, scheduled for release on August 7th, will cost $59.99 / €59.99 / £49.99, and a DisplayPort 1.4 cable will be required separately. In addition, the performance of the PC is also important to achieve a comfortable playing environment. Sony recommends a PC equipped with an Intel Core i5-7600 / AMD Ryzen 3 3100 processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 / AMD Radeon RX 6600XT or higher graphics board as the minimum operating environment.
To operate on a PC, you will need to download the PlayStation VR2 dedicated app and the SteamVR app. Please note that when using on a PC, some functions will be limited compared to playing on a PS5.
Sony explains that “PlayStation VR2 was developed specifically for the PS5, and features such as HDR, headset vibration, eye tracking, adaptive triggers, and haptic feedback (excluding vibration) are not available on PC.”
However, the attractive features of PlayStation VR2, such as 4K high resolution (2000 x 2040 per eye), 110-degree field of view, finger touch detection, see-through view, foveate rendering (excluding eye tracking function), and 3D audio (only for compatible games), are still available on PC.
