Segway

Segway, originally invented in 1999 by Dean Kamen, is a self-balancing scooter that was once widely anticipated but never achieved mainstream adoption. It found a niche in security applications at malls and airports. The company, now owned by Ninebot, ceased production of its iconic scooter in 2020, laying off employees. Segway’s technology is still used in other Ninebot products.
