With the ballooning size of modern video game installs, Xbox Series X and Series S owners have struggled with the limited built-in storage on their consoles. But this week brings welcome news – Seagate’s officially licensed Storage Expansion Cards for Xbox are getting a steep discount.
The 2TB model, which doubles the capacity of even the highest-storage Xbox model, has dropped from its usual $360 down to just $250 on Amazon ($110 off). This ties the lowest price the accessory has ever seen. The deal comes right on time for gamers, with massive recent releases like Hogwarts Legacy and sci-fi epic Dead Space requiring gobs of local storage space to install. Unfortunately, that 1TB option is currently out of stock during this sale.
For Xbox owners, these proprietary expansion cards have long been the only sensible way to directly increase their available space. Traditional external USB drives can store games to reduce clutter, but can’t run Series X/S-optimized titles. Only the Seagate cards match the consoles’ speedy internal NVME SSDs, supporting features like Quick Resume across a huge library.
Still, for Xbox loyalists who have put off investing in one of the add-ons due to their lack of deals to date, the current promotion makes Seagate’s 2TB card much easier to swallow. Paired with an external HDD for cold storage, it could be an end to managing your console’s storage space for years to come. But act fast – with demand for storage running high, odds are stock won’t last long even at the discounted price.
