Samsung fans hoping for a more affordable foldable phone this year might be disappointed. Leaks suggest the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip6 will follow in the footsteps of its bigger sibling, the Z Fold6, with a price increase of $100 across the board.
This news comes after recent leaks revealed a similar price bump for the Z Fold6. Here’s what we know so far about the Z Flip6’s pricing and features.
According to leaked information, US customers looking to get their hands on the Z Flip6 will have two storage options: 256GB and 512GB. The base model with 256GB will set you back $1,099.99, while the higher-storage variant will cost a hefty $1,219.99.
While these prices are specific to the US market, they hint at a global trend. It seems Samsung is abandoning its goal of making foldable phones more accessible, at least for now.
Despite the price hike, there’s no significant change in size for the Z Flip6’s main display. It will maintain the same 6.7-inch screen as its predecessor, the Z Flip5. The weight is also expected to remain the same at 187 grams.
The leak does mention a new color palette for the Z Flip6. It will reportedly be available in Mint, Silver Shadow, yellow, and blue. There’s also a possibility of additional online-exclusive colors like Crafted Black, Peach, and White.
While the price increase might be a turn-off for some potential buyers, Samsung might offer some incentives to ease the pain. Similar to the Z Fold6, the Z Flip6 launch could come with a free storage upgrade. This means you might be able to snag the 512GB version for the base price of $1,099.99.
Trade-in deals and pre-order perks like discounts on accessories are also expected. These could help make the Z Flip6 a bit more attractive despite the higher price tag.
